GAME DESIGN IDEAS
Everyone once in awhile, I get an urge to program a game idea that I have bouncing around in my head. None of these are completed works, and all of them use programmer art. One day I would like to make a game out of one or two of these, or even combine many of them into a single game.
WORLD KNOWLEDGE - COMMUNITY
A macro view of communities. If there was a player of the game, when they are not near a Community, it would instead be represented as a macro in code. Individuals would no longer exist, and instead there would only be groups. Each Community (C) has its own Merchants (M), Guards (G), and Bandits (B). The Merchants travel between each Community passing along knowledge; This is a main idea, not all knowledge is known throughout the world. Something the player does in Community A is not known in Community B, unless a Merchant Party passes that info along. The Bandits seek out the Merchants. The Guards seek out the Bandits.
WAR IN THE COSMOS
It always made me upset in games when I had to buy new gear/upgrades. If I am saving the world/universe, why do I have to pay for upgrades and better equipment? I answered that question with: War In The Cosmos, a bullet-hell type game. As the player, you have your gunship to fire at the enemies and blow them up. Following behind you, is your cargo ship. The cargo ship collects the debris from the enemies, and these parts are used to upgrade your ship and the cargo ship. Got to be careful, as the cargo ship can take damage and be destroyed.
